From the Biographical Annals of Lancaster Co, PA:

"The first member of this branch of the Wissler family in Americasaile d with his wife from Germany to Philadelphia in 1720. On thevoyage, to gether with other able bodied men on the vessel, he wasimpressed into t he naval service by a man-of-war. His wife continuedthe journey to Phi ladelphia, where he joined her on the expiration ofhis term of service . She was employed by a farmer of Germantown andhe also took service w ith a farmer in the same locality, where theypassed the remainder of t heir lives. Andrew Wissler, their son,removed to Lancaster county, Pa. , where he entered the employ ofJacob Groff, an extensive farmer in wh at is now Clay township. In1767 he married the only daughter of his em ployer, and in this waybecame the owner of the old Groff homestead, wh ich was taken up in1724 by John Jacob Groff, father of Jacob. It was d ivided into fourfarms by Jacob Wissler, son of Andrew, but has ever si nce remained inthe Wissler family. Andrew had two sons, John and Jacob ; the formerof whom died unmarried.

And from another area history: Lancaster Co, PA "where he entered thee mploy of John Groff, an extensive farmer in Clay Township on thewest b ank of Middle Creek. In 1767 he married Anna Magdalena, theonly daught er of his employer, and in this way became the owner ofthe old Groff h omestead.....With the additions it was divided intofour farms by Jacob W issler, son of Andrew....but has ever sinceremained in the Wissler fam ily."
