8/16/1862 He enlisted as a Pvt in Co E, 142nd Reg PA Vols

12/18/1862 He was badly wounded at the battle of Fredricksburg. Hisf ather succeeded in getting him home where he recovered.

3/5/1863 He was discharged from service.

3/16/1864 He reenlisted, this time as Sgt in Co I, 202nd Reg PA Vols.

8/16/1865 was discharge date.

Were Franklin and James twins? If not, their birth dates conflict.
