"On 19th May, 1834, John Reber, John Snook, and Henry Noll, elders;Hen ry Noll and Ludwig Long, deacons of the German Presbyteriancongregatio n, entered into an agreement with Jonathan Spyker and JohnGundy, trust ees of the German Lutheran congregation giving the latter"the same pri vilege of the German burying-ground, which Ludwig Derr,in his lifetime , gave to the German Presbyterian congregation, beingon lots Nos. 121, 1 23, and 125, as well as an equal privilege of thechurch built or build ing on said ground, to be tenants in common, &c.See deed book K, pages 1 73 and 174, (at Lewisburg.) In the year1851, the Lutheran congregatio n bought out the interest of the GermanReformed, the latter having bui lt on the corner of St. John and Thirdstreets."
1835 And again: "Abbot Green, Esquire, of Lewisburg, in this county,w as, a few days ago, elected to the honorable station of majorgeneral o f this division. We believe this selection has givengeneral satisfact ion. Henry Noll was elected colonel; Samuel Reber,lieutenant colonel; J ohn Gundy and George Roush, junior, majors ofthe forty-third regiment. - T imes, July 6."

Next doorneighbors on bo th sides were Snooks. On the next page of the censuswere brothers Geor ge and Jacob.
10/16/1850 E Buffalo Twp, Union Co, PA. That census listed John atag e 50, Eliza at 52. John, a farmer, had a considerable amount ofreal e state worth $10,000. Living with them were Hester A, 27, EliasF, 22, a nd John, 13, as well as Sarah Kesler, 24, Eliza Best, 15,Arietta Foule r, 11, and William W Wingert, 8 months.
1852 "In May the Union County mutual fire insurance company wasorgani zed; John Gundy, president, J. A. Mertz, Esquire, secretary."
1854 "December 9, the workmen on the Susquehanna railroad, about twoa nd a half miles below Lewisburg, on Major John Gundy's farm, cameupon t he skeleton of a full grown person covered with stones. Thebones crum bled on exposure. The site was on the side of a steep andalmost impas sible hill, and the body must have been deposited therewith considerab le effort."

Living with him and Eliza, 62, were son John, 33, and 4servants : William Mich, 26, Hugh R Penny, 14, Elizabeth Mich, 16,and Catherin e W Grimes, 11. Next door was son Ellis Gundy followedby brother Adam .
The 1870 census says he was 61, making his birth year 1809.
