N ext door was the family of Samuel's sister, Maria andWilliam Poland, W illiam was probably Susan's brother.
6/8/1880 Same place. By the next census the family had blossomed toi nclude: Samuel, 35, farmer; Susan, 34; Sheridan, 13, Robert, 12,Willia m, 8, Altha, 6, Coy, 4, Della, 2, and Lida, 1. The WilliamPolen famil y lived 3 doors down and included Mary Van Gundy, 45,(Samuel's sister? ).
6/8/1900 Groveport Pct, Madison Twp, Franklin Co, OH. The family mayn ot have moved but rather county lines shifted and they foundthemselves i n the new county. At census time Samuel was 56, married34 years to Su san, 55, who had birthed 12 children but only 10 stillsurvived. Child ren in the house were Elnora, 17, Evaline, 15, andJohn, 12. Elizabeth P oland, 83, probably Susan's mother, was alsocounted there. Samuel was s till farming. Just down the road weresons Samuel and Coy with William i n the same area.
Also listed on Samuel and Susan's gravestone are two children who diedearly.
