6/5/1914 Scott Co, IL was the place of his registration for themilitar y. He lived in Winchester, IL, was in the automobilebusiness, associa ted with Vannier and Mills in Winchester. He wasmarried but had no cl aim for exemption. The registraion says he wasof medium height, slend er build, had gray eyes and light hair.
The newspaper reported:

"Clifford F Mills, 68, was found dead at his home on the groundso f the Big Swan pumping station southwest of Winchester Fridayafternoon . The body was discovered by Robert Coon and Clarence Dyneswho are fa rmers in the vicinity. He had worked at (the) pumpingstation for 14 y ears and was under the care of a doctor for a heartcondition.
He was born near Exeter on Oct. 7, 1886, the son of Samuel W. andN ellie Funk Mills. He was married to Lillie Vannier and she precededhi m in death in 1943.
Mr. Mills is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Maxine Huey ofCarthag e, and one brother, Croney D Mills of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho.
He was a member of the Exeter Lodge AF&AM 424.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. (DST) at theCunningh am Funeral home with the Rev. Roy Goodell, Methodistminister, officiat ing. Interment will be made in the Exetercemetery. The Exeter Lodge A F&AM 424 will be in charge at thecemetery.
The family will meet friends at the funeral home from 7 to 10p.m. S aturday."
