1860 Crooked Creek, Jasper Co, IL. That year George was a 35 yearold f armer with property valued at $2500/600. Jane was 31 and thechildren w ere Margaret E, 1, and George S Davee, 8, Jane's babybrother. Why he w as living with them at that time is unknown butperhaps he couldn't get a long with the new step-mother.
1860 Same place. George, at 44, had increased his estate to$3500/200 0 and was still farming. Jane was 41, Margaret was 11,Martha, 4, and B enjamin, 4 mo.
George remarried 10 months after Jane's death and had 4 more children.
His biography written in the 1884 History of Jasper County Illinoissay s that he "now owns and occupies a fine farm of 400 cres, and asgood a h ouse as there is in the township. He is a general farmer,and deals in s tock quite extensively. In politics he is aRepublican, and was a true f riend to the soldier of the latewar.....Mr. Conner and wife are both m embers of the Christian Church,and are very highly esteemed by all who k now them."
