6/18/1880 Clay Twp, Butler Co, KS. The census taker found the couplet here and recorded James F at age 42, Matilda at 34. Living withthem w ere Matilda's siblings, Jane and Mack McElvain, 36 and 24respectively. B oth men were farmers but Mack was sick with chills.A Nathan Bell fami ly lived a few doors down.
