The handwriting and spelling on this receipt is identical to George'sn ote and dated the same day. It was probably written by George andsign ed by Ambrose.
8/13/1860 T13 R6E, PO Sullivan, Moultrie Co, IL. The census recordedt he couple living alone, Ambrose at 25, Polly at 28. Ambrose was afarm er but he had only personal property worth $150.
6/1865 He petitioned for a road change (Sullivan-Mattoon)
6/1866 Again he petition for a road change (Bruce-Findlay).
12/28/1866 Moultrie Co, IL. Estray notice (he claimed a strayanimal, p robably a horse)
1870 Neither Ambrose or Polly have been found in the census.
