Dale was actually named Junior Dale rather than being his father'sname sake. Descendants said they think he changed his name to DaleJr.

It is unknown when he was returned to the US but he reenlisted11/20/19 45 in Chicago as a Sergeant in the regular Army, enlistmentfor the Pan ama Canal Department . He verified his birth year andcounty, said he w as married at the time and was described as 6', 120pounds. (Apparentl y being prisoner of war made him a beanpole.)
Descendants said he retired from the Air Force with the rank of Major.
His wife said he told her the "worst thing we ever did was give him ac omputer but he loved it, had endless questions, belonged to acomputer c lub at age 82."
The cause of Dale's death was complications from undiagnosed anduntrea ted sleep apnea. He had been in the hospital for several days.
He was cremated, per his wishes, and no services of any kind.
