James was alaborer a t age 37, wife Eliza was 40 and they had living with them a16 year old J ames Shuster (Eliza's son?). Two doors down the otherdirection was br other John with brother Samuel next to him.
1870 Clark Twp, Atchison Co, MO. In the census that year he waslivin g next door to brother John with a Graves family on the otherside. He w as a 46 year old farmer, had real estate worth $7000, andwife Rachel w as 45. Their children at that time were Austin, 14;George, 10; Angeli ne, 8; and John, 6. Daughter Mary and AlbertHoward lived just down th e road while son Alexander was living withhis Uncle John. Perhaps Ale xander and the step-mother couldn't livetogether?
6/1/1880 S Clark Twp, Atchison Co, MO. That year James was 66, stillf arming, his wife was Rachel, 55, and the children were George, 20,Ange line, 18, and John, 16. Next door was brother John's family.
6/14/1900 Same place. The census recorded James as a widower at age7 6, still farming, with Ann, single, age 38, with "housewife" markedout a nd "daughter" added. Down the road was brother William'sfamily.
