5/10/1910 Reno Twp, Canadian Co, OK. Delbert was listed in thecensus t wice that year. Once as a public school teacher boardingwith the fami ly of Lowell and Addie Shaw at age 29, and again withhis parents in Ca lumet Twp, same county.
He homesteaded a plot of land but was there only 2 1/2 yrs beforerecei ving news of his father's stroke about 1914. He packed up andreturned h ome to tend to his father and the family farm and neverreturned to the h omestead.
9/12/1918 Delbert went with brother Charles to register for thedraft, v erifying his birth date, address as RFD 1, Calumet, CanadianCo, OK. H e was a self employed farmer at the same address with wifeCarrie C as n ext of kin. Physically, he was described by theregistrar as medium he ight, medium build, with brown eyes and darkhair.
2/3/1920 Unincorporated Calumet, Canadian Co, OK. That year Delbert,3 8, was responsible for a large household consisting of wife Carrie,36, d aughters Marjorie E, 4, and Winifred, 2, and Grace A, 7 months,as well a s his newly widowed mother, Mary, 64, and sister Grace E,36. He was a f armer, the only one who was working, and they rentedtheir home.
Following his father's death, he moved the family to Cashion,Kingfishe r Co, OK where he began a preaching career.
4/3/1930 South St, Manchester, Grant Co, OK was where the nextcensus t aker found them and listed Delbert B, 48, married the firsttime at age 3 2, Anna C, 38, married at 33, making this her firstmarriage; and child ren Margery E, 14, Winifred P, 12, Grace A, 10,and Mary I B, 8. They r ented their home, valued at $15, and had noradio. Delbert was a pastor a t the ME church.
