1830 Licking Co, OH. The Ohio census index lists Nichademus Chilcarta nd Hethcoate Chilcote living there that year but that census has notbe en added by Ancestry.com. They only list Nicodemus in Crawford Co,OH b ut that man was still there in 1850.
1840 Harmony Twp, Delaware Co, OH. On the westward move, Nicodemusan d John were living side by side at census time. Nicodemus was30-40 ye ars old and had in his family 2 males under 5, 1 aged 5-10, 2females a t 5-10, 1 was 10-15, and probably his wife, also 30-40.Seven doors dow n the road were Anna's parents.
8/16/1850 Harmony Twp, Morrow Co, OH. The family probably nevermoved b ut rather a new county was formed in 1848 and they foundthemselves in t he new one. At census time Nicodemus was a 45 yearold farmer with rea l estate worth $3000. Annie was 42 and the familyconsisted of Benjamin , 19, Ruthy, 17, Rhodie, 15, Hethcoat, 12,Melinda, 9, Joshua, 6, Jemim a, 4, and Naomi, 1. Down the road livedthe Joshua G Chilcote family a nd farther down was Hethcoat, 29.
8/22/1860 Grandview Twp, Edgar Co, IL. On the westward move wherethe c ensus taker found him and recorded his age at 53 (was actually56), his p roperty at $800/1100 and said he was a farmer. Anna was52, children a t home were Joshua M, 16, farm laborer; Jemima E, 14;Naomi, 11; Charle s N, 8; plus a Benjamin Hood, 14. Next doorneighbors were David Stanb eck and George Alexander. Two doors downwas son Benjamin.
5/30/1868 Douglas Co, IL. No current residence was given when heboug ht 40 acres of railroad property at S2 R09E T14N for $10.00/acre.
8/23/1870 Bowdre Twp, PO College Grove, Douglas Co, IL, at censustime h e was 63 years old, had property = $4800/0 and was a "ministerof the g ospel." At home with him was wife Anna, 62, son Charles, 18,as farm l aborer, daughter, Jemima Done (Doing), 24, probably widowed,and her so n, John W Done (Doing), at 6. The neighbors were G W Hall,and W L Lan gley.
12/31/1870 Douglas Co, IL. He bought more railroad land at the samel ocation as in 1868, again for $10/acre. He bought 2 plotscontaining 3 8.61 acres each.
Chesterville, Douglas Co, IL, where he died, possibly while livingwith d aughter, Jennie Davis.

Cemetery records say he died 12/23/1876.

FM R ush and George H Mason supplied the securitybond and Caleb Bales, WN S haw and Robert H Shaw were appointedappraisers. Final settlement was 1 /1879.
