"In the fall of 1831, they organized and constituted the Rich Woodschurch, with the following members, Thomas Frazier and wife, AbsalomKester and wife, William Walker and wife, Daniel Bennett and wife,Henry Randall and wife, also Rebecca Davis. The name of this church tobe known as the Concord Baptist Church. The first meeting was held inthe home of Francis Davis, and on the second Lord's day in October1831, the following named members united with this church: JosephRedman and Lucy Redman, his wife, John Bennett and Charlotte Bennett,his wife. As there was no church house in the neighborhood, they heldtheir services at the different neighbors' houses."
9/3/1850 Richland Pct, Clark Co, IL. That census recorded Francisas a 49 year old farmer with real estate worth $800. Wife Rebecca was43 and they had 6 children: James, 17, Coleman, 15, Sarah, 4,Robinson, 13, Joshua, 11, and Susan, 1. (The order of children's agesindicates 2 different families) The oldest two sons were alsofarmers. Rebecca's aged parents were 2 doors down the road and in theopposite direction were her brothers John Jr and James.
7/6/1860 Westfield Twp, Clark Co, IL. At census time he was a 59year old farmer with property woth $1600/800. Living with him wereRebecca, 53, John, 32, Joshua P, 21, Sarah J, 14, Susan M, 11, WilliamN, 7, Josephus, 3, and Sarah A, 2. (Could the two youngest be John'schildren?) Francis, Rebecca and John were born in KY, the rest of thefamily in IL. John and Joshua were farm laborers. Several Bennettfamilies lived on either side of them.
6/15/1870 Same residence, next door to son Joshua's family, sonColeman was down the road. Francis Davis was 69 years old at censustime, still farming, with $3000/200 in property. Wife Rebecca was 63,both born in KY.
Rebecca was a widow by 1880.
