Elizthwas 27 a nd they had 3 small toddlers, Sarah J, 5, Susannah, 4, andMary A, 3. T here were others in the house as well: Mary Dixon, 18,Blandford Franc es, 32, and Mary A Scoonover, 18, all withoutrelationship or occupatio n unrecorded. Next door was the Henry Kite(Kight) family, relatives o f the relatives.
6/18/1860 Liberty Twp, near Williamsport, Warren Co, IL. Before then ext census the family had jumped across the river, probably to beneare r his relatives, as next door lived a Sarah Chrisman, 73, withthe Abne r Mitchell family. Isaac was 36, still farming and hisestate had bal looned to $10,000/1000. Elizabeth was also 36 and thefamily had grown t o include: Sarah J, 15, Susanna, 13, Mary A, 12,Eliza E, 9, Joseph, 7 , Mariah C, 4, and Thomas F, 2. All thechildren were listed as born i n IN but that is incorrect, accordingto the previous census.
7/28/1870 Same place. That census recorded Isaac as an enterprisingf armer with property valued at $43,400/2000. He and Elizabeth wereboth 4 5 and children still in the house were Susan, 21, Ellen, 19,Joseph S, 1 7, Catherine, 14, and Lavina and Francis L, 10,
6/16/1880 Ross Twp, Vermilion Co, IL. Considering the estate in IN,i t makes one wonder what brought them back home? Isaac "Chrisma,"60, w as still farming and must have had considerable land as 4 farmlaborers l ived with the family: Elizabeth was also 60, and livingwith them were S arah, 32, Joseph, 26, Franklin, 22, Lavina, 26, andthe hired men, John T wins, 30, John Holmes, 15, Samuel McKunn, 25,and George McKunn, 22. A ll the children again were listed as born inIN.
6/1/1900 Maple St, Rossville, Vermilion Co, IL. By the next censusIs aac, 77, was a widower with the occupation of landlord. Thehousehold h ad shrunk to only children: Jennie, 54, Joseph, 47, andVina, 38.
4/21/1910 Utica St, Rossville. Not much had changed, except the nameo f the street, since the last census Apparently Isaac had retired asth e census said he had his own income. All three children were stillthe re without occupations and listed as Sarah J, 64, Joseph S, 54,and Lav ina M, 41. Sounds like they lived the life of ease.
