From Beckwith's History of Vermilion Co, IL: "Francis and Josephhave b een engaged in farming and in trade."

1861 Joseph enlisted in Co B, 25th IL Vols, fought at Chickamauga andK enesaw Mt, as well as other Civil War battles.

He served as Sheriff.

8/16/1890 As Joseph Gundy, he filed for a pension based on his CivilW ar Record.

4/10/1899 His widow filed for his pension.
His widow filed for a pension based on his Civil War service.
