Living with him were Maria, 43, Francis,25, Mary , 20, Joseph, 19, Samuel, 17, Nancy, 14, Maria, 11, Eliza, 7,and John, 5 . Next door was the John Merryman family, probablyMaria's brother.
7/25/1870 Same place. According to the census Jonathan had disposedo f all real estate and was left with $500 in personal property andyet h is occupation was "works on farm." He was 57 at the time, wifeMaria w as 54 and they still had a full house: Mary, 31, Eliza, 18,John, 14, M aria's 81 year old father, Francis Merryman, and 8 yearold Franklin Ru ssel. Next door was the family of Amanda Russel andnext to her was Ma ria's brother, John. Perhaps Amana was Maria'ssister? Francis Merryma n had $700 in real estate but no occupation soit is possible that Jona than worked his farm. Three doors down weresister Catherine and Josep h Harker.
Some descendants say Jonathan was born 10/20/1805 but the date postedi s calculated from cemetery records that say he was 62y, 4m, 11d.
