1840 Harrison Twp, Ross Co, OH. In that census Peter's householdincl uded: 1 male under 5 years of age, 1 at 5-10, 1 was 15-20, Peterwas 4 0-50, 1 female under 5, 2 were 5-10, 1 at 10-15, and probablyhis wife a t 30-40. Down the road lived his parents and brothers,Gabriel and Aar on.
9/3/1850 Harrison Twp, Ross Co, OH. At census time his family livedn ext door to his father. He was 52 years old, a laborer with $30 inrea l estate. Living with him were Phebe, 24, Ephraim, 12, Eder, 1mand M inerva, 2.
1860 Peter's whereabouts have not been located for that census.
8/4/1870 Same place. Peter was 70 years old at census time, daughterN ancy, 35, lived with him, both listed as "township charge." Twodoors d own the road was the family of cousins David and Eliza VanGundy.
His administrator was appointed 3/5/1863.
Peter's will said:
In the Name of the Benovolent Father of all
I Peter Vangundy of Ros County Ohio, do make and publish this my lastwill and testament
Item 1st. I give and devise to my beloved wife Henrietta in lieu ofher dower, the farm on which we now reside, situate in Green TownshipRos County Ohio, containing about two hundred and fifty seven acres ofland, until my son Charles Nelson shall arrive at the age of twentyone years and the one third of the rents thereafter during her naturallife, and all the stock, household goods, furniture, provisions andother goods and chattels which may be thereon at the time of mydecease during her natural life, she however selling so much thereofas may be suffieient to pay my just debts.
Item 2nd. When my son Charles Nelson Vangundy shall arrive at twentyone years of age, I then give and bequeath to him in fee simple thereal estate abovementioned, he paying the one third of the rent; orvalue of the use of the land to my said wife during her natural life
Item 3rd In the event of my sons dying before he arrives at the age oftwenty one, I give then and in that case bequeath to my said wife theaforenamed real estate in fee simple.
Item 4th Should there by any other heir or heirs of my body than myson Charles Nelson, I then give and bequeath the aforesaid real estateequally divided between them, to them and to be divided when theeldest arrives at twenty one years of age.
Item 5 It is my wish and the foregoing bequest to my beloved wife aremade in part to secure the raising, maintaining and educating of theheir or heirs that I may leave alive at my decease and I wish thisrequest to be faithfully performed on her part.
Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint John Crous executor of thismy last will and testament, hereby revoking all other wills made byme.

Between the hours of 10 o'clock A.M. and 4 o'clock P.M. of said day,the following real estate, situate in Green Township, Ross county,Ohio, being parts of Sections 28, 29 and 33 in Township 9, Range 21,and being the farm of which the late Peter Vangundy died seized,containing 162 acres, subject to the dower estate of HenriettaVangundy his widow on 30 acres thereof. The farm is well watered,good timber, a large sugar camp and of good quality of land.Appraised at $26 14 cents per acre.
