Notes for David Kieffer FIREBAUGH


David was a brother to Philip and half brother to Adam Firebaugh whoal so married Van Gundy girls.

He was mentioned in the bio of son Daniel:

"David, born either in Pennsylvania or Maryland, 1787; settled inNort h township, where he died June 14, 1864; married in Harrisoncounty, Ma gdalena Gundy, born 1797, died 1878; daughter of Rev.Joseph and Fannie C offman Gundy (the former a Mennonite minister whosettled in Harrison c ounty, in 1894); had issue: 1. Frances, m. JohnWeimer, and settled in A ustin, Neb.; 2. Daniel, b. April 27, 1817;died Oct 14, 1885; married E lizabeth Boor...."

1830 North Twp, Harrison Co, OH. At census time the family livednext d oor to Magdalena's sister, Rebecca and Christian Overholt withother re latives just down the road. In the family were 3 males aged10-15, 1 a t 30-40, David at 40-50, 2 females under 5, 1 at 15-20, 1was 30-40, an d 1 at 40-50.

1840 Same place but no longer next door to the Overholts. David was5 0-60 years old with a household consisting of 1 male age 20-30, and1 f emale also 50-60. Neighbors included relatives Jacob and JohnFirebaug h as well as Jacob Heistand, Joseph Overholt and

7/19/1860 Still there. At census time he lived between son Danieland n ephew Michael Gundy. David was 73 years old, apparently retiredas he h ad no real estate, only $200 in personal property. WifeMagdalene was 7 0, also counted there was 80 year old Rachael Faulk(who?).

Most likely he was not the David Firebaugh that served in Co H, 78thOh io Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War at age 70+ as some say.

He belonged to the United Brethren Church.
