William was probably a brother to Sarah, who married Peter VanGundy... .i.e. brother & sister married brother & sister.
After Catherine's death he remarried.

9/3/1850 Cain Twp, Fountain Co, IN. Before the next census they hadm oved west. William was a 52 year old miller with property worth$2300, C atherine was 46. Children in the house were: John, 27;Mathew, 23; Ma ria A, 20; Bethia J, 18; Rachel A, 16; and Samuel, 13.Next door neighb ors were the Brants and Washburns. Two doors downwas the family of so n David, also a miller. In the same townshipwere Catherine's parents a nd siblings.
7/24/1860 Same place, PO Hillsborough.. At that time William, 62,was a m illwright but had only $340 worth of personal property only.Living wit h him were second wife Nancy H, 42, her Work children:William R, 16; M inerva, 13; John A, 11; and Hiram A, 9; as well as 1year old Matilda S impson.
