Notes for Samuel WISSLER


Residences:

1830 Salt Creek Twp, Pickaway Co, OH. In the census, he was 30-40and h ad living at his house, 2 males under 5, 1 female under 5, 1female 20- 30 and 1 female 30-40. Next door was older brother, Henry.On the othe r side was his widowed sister, Barbara Welty. Otherbrothers lived dow n the road: George, 4 doors down, John was 6 doorsdown, and
brother-in-law, Daniel Van Gundy lived 8 doors down.

8/5/1850 Still there. The census taker recorded Samuel Wisler, 51,fa rmer, with wife Margaret, 53, and children Benjamin, 23, Levi, 22,and C aroline, 18. Next door was sister Ann "Gundey," followed bybrother Ja cob "Weisler." In the same township were brothers Michael,Henry, and G eorge. (Where was daughter Mary?)

7/4/1860 Same place, PO Camp Charlotte. The census recorded Samuelat a ge 61, a farmer with a large estate valued at $8000/1000.Margaret was 6 2 and still at home were Benjamin, 30, and Mary, 25.Son Levi lived nex t door and on the other side was brother Jacob.

1880 Same place. In that census Samuel was 81, a farmer, and livingw ith him were daughter Mary, 43, son Benjamin, 52:, daughter-in-law,Ang eline, 37, grandson Wallace, 12, granddaughters, Geddie, 10, andMaggie , 3, in addition to James Carna, 23, farm laborer. Next doorwas broth er Jacob.
Samuel and Margaret's gravestone is huge, each with a Greek columnconnected by an arched top engraved with Wissler.
