" The Henry Wissler family settled in Ohio in 1806, when George was al ittle boy, giving him all the opportunities necessary for developinghi s muscular power. He purchased 1,120 acres of timber land inPickaway C ounty, Ohio where George lived until September 1851, whenhe came to Fu lton county, settling on section 17, Farmer's township.George was a pr ominent farmer. No man performed more physical laborin his day than Ge orge Wissler. He made a good farm in Ohio in thetimber, hence he knew a ll about log=rolling and pulling dogwoods. Hewas chosen captain of one o f the contending parties at thelog-rollings and corn-husking events. "

1830 Salt Creek Twp, Pickaway Co, OH. At census time he was 30-40yea rs old with 1 male 5-10, 2 females under 5, 1 female 5-10, and hiswife , also at 30-40. His neighbors included brothers, Henry, Samuel,and J ohn, sister, Barbara Welty, and brother-in-law, Daniel VanGundy.

9/4/1850 Still there. That year when the census taker came, hisfamil y lived next door to brother Henry. George was 54, a farmerwith $3000 i n real estate. His family consisted of Maria, 40,Samuel, 26, Maria, 2 0, Alvina, 18, Jonas, 16, and 3 Rink teenagers,Hannah, 17, male Sandle phin, 16, and Salena, 13.
