Researcher Mary Ann Atencio wrote:
"The Whistler school was on land donated by the Wisslers. The town ofWhistler is located in the lower left-hand corner of Salt CreekTownship , Pickaway County, Ohio. Birdie Jordan, granddaughter of JohnHarlan Welty, was in Whistler, Ohio in 1987 and reported, 'The PrairieView cemetary is well-cared for and is a beautiful cemetary situatedon the outskirts of the town and up on a hill. One can stand in thiscemetary and see for miles around. There are many Wissler anddescendent famillies buried in this cemetary. I was in Whistler in1987 and talked to some of the older people in the town, and therewere no people with the Wissler name left in the area, but there couldhave been descendents of the Wissler family.' A copy of the text ofthe original federal land transfer from John Shoemaker to HenryWissler is given in the Whisler book by Olive Taylor and Sarah TaylorSunderland. The original was apparently signed by both ThomasJefferson and James Madison."
There is a conflict between Henry's birthdate as posted and that ofhis c hildren, he should be much older.
