Notes for James Demey ODOM


Residences & events:

1860 Bourbon Twp, Kansas Territory was where the census taker foundth e family. James, a farmer with $500 in real estate, was 32 yearold wh ile Mary was 31. Living with them were son John, 4, andpossibly James ' brother as farm laborer.

The 1905 History of Crawford Co, KS says:

"Woolery Coonrod, Sr., was about the earliest settler, coming in 1856,E lisha Black, Sr., coming about the same time.....Other earlysettlers w ere....James Odom."

And again:

"Mary Coonrod was the wife of James Odom, an early settler. They hadon ly one child, John W. Odom, who lives near McCune."
