"Thomas moved back to Bracken County, married America Neaves, andstart ed to amass a great fortune that came to almost $2,000,000 bythe time o f his death in 1883. At the same time he was married toAmerica, he bui lt a farmhouse for his exwife Martha, and fathered atleast four illegi imate children by her."

1860 Where was this couple at census time?

7/6/1870 Pinhook Twp, PO Brattons Mill, Robertson Co, KY. By censust ime that year Thomas was a very wealthy man for the day. He was 56yea rs old with property valued at $12,000/5500. America was 36 andtheir f amily consisted of 5 children: Thomas, 13, Mary, 11, Abner, 6,Napoleon , 2, and William M, 6 months. Living with them was 16 yearold farm ha nd Benjamin Wheeler. Brother-in-law Spencer Workman livedin the same a rea.

6/9/1880 Brooksville, Bracken Co, KY. The family had made somechange s, besides moving back home, Thomas, 66, had a much youngerwife, Marga ret, 24. Children were Abner, 17, Napoleon, 12, WilliamM, 10, Martha F , 8, Stela, 5, Elizabeth, 4, America J, 2, and Viola,2 months. Domest ic servant, Bell Chamberlain, 20, was also countedthere. Thomas was s till farming.
Death records for son Napoleon says his father was born in VA, for sonA bner it was Bracken Co, KY.
