Daniel was named for his grandfather, Abia Chipps.

"Daniel Abia, 8 year old son of Mrs. Carrie VanGundy Chipps, isat t he point of death at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.D.W. Va nGundy, as the result of injuries received in a fall a fewdays ago whi le playing at the New Castle school house.
The boy was playing upon a fence when his foot slipped, and inthe f all he received internal injuries which physicians pronounced asfatal T hursday morning. He is under the care of a trained nurse."
