John was a leather merchant. He and brother, Frederick, wereco-execut ors of their father's estate and (probably) bought out thefather's lea ther stock to form their own company. He was alsopartner in George Hi te & Co.

1770 Arrived in America (possibly Philadelphia or Baltimore). He wass aid to have landed in the neighborhood of Patrick Henry and was onhand t o hear the famous speech "Give me liberty or give me death."
He fought in Rev War with Gen Warren.
