The following item appeared in the newspaper in 1932:
Officials were called to the Dewey VanGundy home northwest ofSull ivan, Friday night of last week. Their seven year old son,Danny, had d isappeared from his bed, and could not be found. Hisabsence was disco vered about 11 o'clock, and Sheriff G.D. Edmonds wascalled.
A group of neighbors was called and search started. Theyoungster w as found, asleep in a bean field, almost a quarter of amile from home. H e had walked across a ????? through a fence, andlay down a short dista nce from this fence.
The boy was fully dressed, but had no recollectio of leaving hisb ed, and it is preesumed that he had walked in his sleep.
Several days before, his parents had found the boy fully dressedw hen they arose in the morning. He told them that he had slept outof d oors that night, but his parents did not believe it at that time.
Danny retired from the Central IL Light Co in 1993.
Danny was born in the tenant house on the farm of his Van Gundygrandpa rents.
