1782 Surry Co, NC Tax List:
Ambrose Blackburn’s District: (Central part of present-day StokesCoun ty)
Anthony Collins 100a Neatman Crk
On the same list are Jeremiah, Obadiah, Roger, Thomas and William.

1784-1787 Blackburn's Dist, Surry Co, NC state census lists Anto.Colli ns with 1 white male age 21-60, 3 white males under 21, and 1white fem ale, no slaves. Next door was Roger Collins, on the otherside was Joh nson Rutlage.

Witnesses: Hardy Reddick, Thomas Cook
#117a. Surry C:287 Ambrose Blackburn Jr. sold 100 acres on NeatmanCre ek to Anthony Collins Sr.
Hardy Reddick and Watson Collins served as a witnesses on two othertra nsfers.

From the Moore family history:

"Andrew Moore sold his 213 acres is Surry County, NC (later the NEcorn er of Stokes County) in May of 1787. Andrew was living in WilkesCounty , NC, in 1790 with the Gibson and Collins families as theystarted migr ating west to Tennessee."

1800 Salisbury, Stokes Co, NC. At census time Anthony and Jeremiahwer e the only Collins in the county. Anthony's household included:2 mal es under 10, 2 at 10-15, 2 were 16-25, himself, over 45, 2females unde r 10, and 1 also over 45. Four doors down livedArchibald Campbell wit h William Campbell farther down, probablyfuture in-laws of son Aaron.

7 Mar 1804 Ordered that the following persons viz Wm. Gaines, Wm.Lankf ord, Electious (?) Musick, Thos. Gaines, Jese Simmons, AnthonyCollins, M atthew Deatherage, Ephraim Simmons, Shadrack Webster, Geo.Deatherage, J oel Tilly, & James Lyon be appointed to a jury to view &lay out a road b etween the big Creek & Dan River & report next court.

1810 Stokes Co, NC. That year the county took a census of "Personsen gaged in Manufacturing." Several columns of the census wereunreadable b ut of those that were, Anthony's household included 1person in manufac turing, 100 yards, no gallons, no tanned hides, andSperrets valued in d ollars was $50. The next name was John Campbell.On the next page were W illiam and John Collins Jeremiah and EdwardsCollins on the next 2 pag es.

1810 Peters Creek/Meadows Twp, Surry Co, NC. The federal censuscount ed Anthony's family there. Apparently they had moved betweenthe time o f the 2 census numerations. Anthony's family consisted of2 males und er 10, himself at 45+, 2 females under 10, 2 were 10-15,and 1 at 45+. J ohn Campbell was next door.

1820 Capt Winfrey's Dist, Surry Co, NC. The census taker recordedhis a ge at 26-45 and living with him were 1 female at 10-16 and 1aged 26-45 . He was in agriculture. (Ages indicate a younger familythan this A nthony, perhaps Anthony Jr?) In the same area were sonsWilliam, John a nd Aaron. In Capt Dennies Dist, same county, wasObadiah Collins.

1830 Surry Co, NC. At census time he was 60-70 years old and hadlivi ng with him 2 males 15-20, 1 female aged 20-30, 1 at 40-50 and 1at 60- 70. Next door neighbors were John Jester and Isaac Williams.

1840 Coles Co, IL. Could he be the 80-90 year old man living withson A aron?

LDS records say he died in 1835 in Surry Co, NC but there areindicatio ns that he moved to IL with sons Aaron and Adam.
