Irene Arthur
Services celebrating the life of G. Irene Arthur, 91 of Mattoon wereheld at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Schilling Funeral Home in Mattoon.Burial was in French Cemetery in Allenville.
She died at 8:50 a.m. Sept. 19, 2002 in the Sarah Bush Lincoln HealthCenter in Coles County.
Born Dec. 6, 1910 in Coles County, she was a daughter of Fred andAlberta Pearl Mayhew Block. She retired from Theodore Effrom ofChicago in 1970 and was a former member of the Eastern Star. Shemarried Ralph Aaron Arthur June 2, 1927, and he died Dec. 15, 1981.
Survivors include sons Ralph "Cap" Arthur of Allenville and RaymondArthur of Kenneth City, Fla.; daughters Betty Dieterich of CalumetCity and Nancy Gardner of Sullivan; 19 grandchildren; 23great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, two brothers, two sisters and a great-grandson precededher in death.
