7/9/1860 Same place. That census taker was lazy, recording onlyiniti als through the entire census. This household included: WWhitley, 41 ; E, 33; M, 16; R, 14; E, 12; J, 10; W, 7; W, 4, and MCollard, 75. Wi lliam was still farming and his property had grown to$2665/3000. Agai n they were the only Whitleys.
8/6/1870 Pct 4, PO Huntsville, Walker Co, TX. Before the nextcensus, e ither the family have moved to the next door county orcounty lines had s hifted. They were listed in the census index asWhalleys but the origi nal is definitely Whitley. Farmer Wm Whitley,46, had sold off some pr operty, down to $1500/500. Emily,42 kepthouse for: Robt, merchant, wi th $800 in personal property only; Lige,22, farmer, probably helping D ad since he had no property; John, 19,Wm, 16, and Warrick, 14. Also c ounted there was Ophilia Owen, 17,house worker. Next door was a black G eorge Whitley family, brotherSharp lived in the same precinct.
6/1/1880 Dist 155, Pct 4, Same place. That year Wm Whitley, 60, wass till farming. Wife Emlie, was 52, son Elijah, 33, was still at homean d disabled but the ailmenr in undecipherable. Living with them was22 y ear old farmer, Henry White. On the next page were the familiesof son s Warrick, hotel keeper, and Robert, Dte (?) postmaster.
