6/7/1880 N Okaw Twp, Coles Co, IL. The census recorded William J ata ge 25, Susan E at 21. They had only 1 little boy, William, 3.William S r was a farmer. Neighbors were unknown names.

6/1900 Same place. That year the census listed a large family forWil liam, 46, and Susan, 39. They had been married 25 years with 13childr en but unfortunately only 7 still survived, Albert W, 21, farmhand; Jo hn L, 15, farm laborer; Bertha M, 14, house worker; Grace M,12, Horace O a nd Flossa M, 1. William was a farmer, both parentswere born in KY. A f ew doors down was brother John R, followed byDavid Daily.

1918 Humboldt, N Okaw Twp, Coles Co, IL was his residence when listeda mong the county farmers. He was a tenant farmer of 53 acres in S10own ed by Robert Smith. He and wife, Susan, had 7 children at thattime an d he had been a county resident since birth. William andbrother John w ere the only Whitleys listed.

1/6/1920 Same place. At census time William J, 65, and Susan E, 60,l ived alone but the road was filled with relatives. He was stillfarmin g, owned their home but with a mortgage.

4/29/1930 Still there. By the next census William, 76, was a widowera nd lived with divorced son Horace.
