John F. Strine, 74 of West Salem, died at 11:06 a.m. Sunday, October8, 2006, at his home.
Mr. Strine was born on November 16, 1931 in Wabash County, the son ofGeorge and Sylvia Dailey-Strine. He attended Frog Eye School andattended church at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. John was aloving husband, father and grandfather. He married Rosemary Gawthorpon April 30, 1952. They were married for 54 years. She survives.
He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the U.S. Army.After the war, he returned to West Salem, where he farmed, worked inthe oil field and retired from Roadmaster in 1992 after 31 years. Hewas a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Mt. Carmel and AmericanLegion in West Salem.
Mr. Strine is survived by his wife, Rosemary; three daughters, NancyOrrel and her husband, Mike of West Salem, Teresa Dallmier and herhusband, Jerry of Noble and Joni Campbell and her husband, Rick ofWest Salem; sister, Lois Hinderliter of Evansville, Ind.; brotherMerrel Strine of West Salem; 12 grandchildren and 10great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Strine of WestSalem; two sisters, Geraldine Hoffman of Mt. Carmel, and MargaretSmith of West Salem; one infant son, George Thomas Strine; and onegreat-grandchild Korbin Dallmier.
Funeral services at the Moravian Church in the Hauser Room with burialwith full military rites in Moravian Cemetery.
