Norma Jean Kirk, age 89, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 3:30 a.m.,Monday 22, 2016, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL.
The funeral service in her honor will begin at 10:00 A.m. Saturday,August 27, 2016, at the First Baptist Church, 1804 S. 9th St. Mattoon,IL, 61938. Reverend Dennis Strawn will officiate. Interment will bein Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the FirstBaptist Church, Friday evening, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. The family isbeing assisted by Mitchell-Jerdan funeral Home, located at 1200 WabashAvenue, Mattoon, Il. 61938.
Born October 9, 1926 in Mattoon, IL. Norma was the daughter of OrvalRay and Cecil Fern (Daily) Seaman. She married Richard B. Kirk onJune 27, 1948 in Mattoon, IL. She is survived by her loving husbandof 68 years, Richard, their daughter, Shelley ZuHone and husband Danof Mattoon, IL; a brother Duane Seaman and wife Ada of Mattoon, IL; asister, Marilyn Coleman and husband Dan of Mattoon, IL; adaughter-in-law, Sarah Kirk of Gays, IL, and six grandchildren, JohnZuHone and wife Jessi of Quincy, MA, Megan Lakemacher and husbandJustin of Burnsville, MN, Bethany Kirk of Oakbrook Terrace, IL, BostynKirk of Gays, IL, Baylee Bath and husband Derric of Indianapolis, IN,and Brennyn Kirk of Gays, IL. She was preceded in death by son, MikeKirk; and a grandson, Kirk ZuHone.
Norma was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Mattoon.She was the former owner and operator of Fashion Flair Fabric inMattoon, IL. Her talents included sewing and crocheting, and shewould sometimes be found passing time reading a book or working acrossword puzzle. She also loved to travel.
Norma was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother, and a doting grandmotherwho enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family andattending their musical events.
The family would appreciate memorials in her honor made to LincolnLand Hospice or the Odd-Fellow Rebekah Home.
