David was known as a "rounder" with the ladies. Family said he wasmarried at least four times. If Lena was really his daughter, he wasonly 18 when she was born and there is no marriage record for him inIL before 1895 to Fanny.
At one time, he was a grocer in Allenville, IL.

Children in the family were Lena V, 16(daughte r from a previous marriage?), Flossie M, 12, Lucinda, 10,David F, 7, and Aaron R, 1 yr 6 mo. David was a farm hand on ageneral farm, daughter, Lena was a servant for a private family.
9/12/1918 809 "Moltrie" (Moultire) Ave, Mattoon, Coles Co, IL was hisa ddress when he registered for the draft at age 45. He was selfemployed but doing what is blurry. Wife Fannie May, same address, washis next of kin. His physical attributes were described as mediumheight, medium build, with black eyes and dark hair.
1/20/1920 Lafayette Twp, Coles Co, IL. David N Arthur was theOperator of an Elevator Co, according to the census that year, andrented the home. He and Fannie N were 48 years old, children wereFrankie, 17, Ralph, 11, Thelma, 5, and Freddie, 1y 2 mo.
4/18/1930 Cedar Ave, Mattoon, Coles Co, IL. The census that yearrecorded both him and Fannie at 54 years of age with children: Ralph,21, with his bride Irene, 19; Thelma, 15; Fred, 11; and daughterCreolene (sp ?), 7. David was a laborer on a truck farm and ownedtheir home which was valued at $4000, They did not have a radio.
He verified his birth date when he registered for the draft.
