2/15/1863 Amid discussion of those in the war and visits bycivilians, " Sarah Harness has give out going to see Ike until warmweather." From t his it may be concluded that Ike also served forawhile in the war effo rts.
5/30/1863, "Ike Harness is going to buy the place that Enoch Purvisliv ed on when he enlisted (for the Civil War). I saw Ike a few daysago h e looks quite well and is very fleshy. I wish you could seewhat a gre at chane Ikes coming home has made in Sarah, she dont seemlike the sam e person, she is so lively, gay and happy."
And again on 6/4/1863 "Ike Harness has bought of Squire Purvis theplac e Enoch Purvis was living on when he volunteered, and will moveon it i n a few days. It was rented to Mr. Philips....Ike bought outhis time t his morning and Mr. Philips will move into twoimmediately."
12/13/1863 "Miss Ellen (Miley) & I (Anna Rankin) are going up to theH arnesses to stay all night this week."
6/14/1870 City of Fulton, Calloway Co, MO. The census listed Isaac,5 5, as a RR laborer without property. Sarah was 30, born VA (?).Living w ith the couple wre Jackson Tucker, 14, laborer, LafayetteTucker, 12, b oth born IL; Mary Grisby, 20, Eliza Grisby, 22, andJames H Grisby, 4 m onths. The Grisbys were black but not recorded asservants.
6/22/1880 Lamar Twp, Barton Co, MO. That year at census time Isaacwa s a 68 year old farmer. Sarah was 51 and again they had extras inthe h ouse, Richared and Samuel Loringo, 30 and 28 respectively, bothlaborer s. Next door was Lafayett Tucker, 21, from the previouscensus.
His place of birth depends on which census record is being read.
