Harmon was said to be named after his Grandfather Russell.

6/1900 Drywood Twp, Bourbon Co, KS. Harmon, 25, was living with thef amily of his Aunt Hattie and Owen Vaugh. Owen, 48, was a farmer andHa ttie was 37 while son Owen was 22. Harmon probably helped on thefarm.

5/7/1910 Marmaton, Bourbon Co, KS was where the nest census takerfoun d him and recorded Herman R, 35, married 5 years to Nora, 28,who had b irthed 3 children, all living: Bertha E, 4, Lloyd F, 2, andHattie M, 1 y ear 1 month. Also counted there was cousin JohnRussell, 11, born in K S, parents born in IL and KS respectively.Harmon was a general farmer .

1/8/1920 Arma, Crawford Co, KS. By that census time Harmon's lifehad c hanged considerably. He was a 40 year old widower and hadchanged occu pations to laborer on the railroad. The three childrenwere still thre : Bertha, 13, Lloyd, 12, and Hattie, 10.

4/5/1930 Same place. Listed that year as Herman H, 55, married thefi rst time at age 29, lived in a house worth $10, and was a janitorin t he public school. Someone told the census taker that he was bornin IL a nd his parents were born in England and IL. He had remarriedto Mammie , 36, with 2 children by different names: Cope Warren, 18and Wanda Ju nghuns, 8. Son Lloyd, 22, was still at home and alsoliving there was m other-in-law, Rebecca Starbuck, 71, a widow.
