ARCOLA — Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Van Gundy, 84, of Arcola, IL,passed awa y at 6:10 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2013 at her residencesurrounded b y her loving family members.
She was born on October 21, 1928 in Sikeston, MO, the fourth daughtero f Elmer and Rose Ellen Frazier. She moved to Illinois as a smallchild a nd attended country school at Galton, IL, then later attendedArcola sc hools where she met her future husband C.W. Van Gundy, Jr.They were ma rried on January 31, 1948. JR preceded her in death onJanuary 12, 2008 .
Betty leaves behind five loving children, Lynn Miller of Arcola, KayVa n Gundy of Joliet, IL, Greg Van Gundy and wife Carla ofBloomington, IL , Jodie Hinkle and husband Terry of Humboldt, IL andKim Van Gundy and w ife Janet of Arcola, IL, as well as eight adoringgrandchildren: Jamie H enkelman, Jennie Damler, Jeff Dague, MelissaDague, Janelle Van Gundy, S tephanie Van Gundy, Tony Van Gundy, andBrook Van Gundy, four great-gra ndchildren Madisyn, Bradyn, Jordyn andTenley.
Betty devoted her life to her family, which she did with style andgrac e. The last couple of years of her life, she unfortunatelyexperienced b ad health, which gave her family the honor of returningto her the same l ove and nurturing she provided to so many.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Eulah Gordon, PaulineSt eele and Kathleen Gill.
Memorials are suggested to the Arcola Foundation, Arcola Lion’s Clubor t o Lincolnland Visiting Nurses Association.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday,Octo ber 16, 2013 at the Arcola Presbyterian Church, Arcola, IL, withRev. D onald Winch officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7p.m., at t he church.
Private family graveside services will be held on Thursday, October17, 2 013 at the Arcola Township Cemetery.
