There is some question as to Peter's children. The only one heremaine d in contact with seems to be son James. Considering the lifeof secon d wife Martha, her two girls may or may not be Peter'schildren and it i s well established that her son John was not.

In his household were 1 male age10- 16, 1 female under 10, 1 age 16-26 and 1 over 45, (her mother?).He was i n agriculture. There were no Bellys or Baileys in the countybut Uncle C hristian "Gondy" lived in Clear Creek Twp.
1830 Scioto Twp, Pickaway Co, OH. Peter Vangundy at age 30-40 with af amily consisting of 1 male under 5, 1 male 5-10, 1 female 5-10, andone f emale 20-30. Living in the same county were brothers Daniel andJohn, a s well as sister-in-law Hannah, widow of Joseph. Also in thatcounty w ere four Jester families: Ely, Manlove, Stephen and Wm.Next door was J oseph Tipton.
1840 Where was Peter that year at census time?
4/10/1850 Peter abandoned Martha and the 2 girls but they neverdivorc ed for another 5 years.
1850 Again he was missing from the census.
Abt 1855 Champaign Co, IL. He may have moved west with son James HVan G undy and the Cresap family.
He was not listed in any census after 1830. Where was he?
Some relatives have his birth date as 1805, in which case, he wouldhav e been too young to have married in 1815.
LDS records say he died 1857 in Champaign.
His death report says he was 80 years old, born OH, a farmer, andmarri ed but wife's name was not recorded.
Cemetery records have no dates for Peter, only that the gravestonesays O ur Father Peter VanGundy.

"Peter is buried in the Bethel- Harris (also known as Seymour)Cemetery . I found 9 graves in row listed North to South-- Peter VanGundy, Jame s Harvey Van Gundy, Elizabeth Cresap Van Gundy, 3 unmarkedgraves, West ley Cresap, Margaret Cresap, Daniel Cresap, And
Edmond S Cresap is buried about 20 feet away from the others."
