1850 Centre Twp, Hendricks Co, IN. Was it this Isaac and Matilda int he census there? If so, Isaac was a farmer at age 45, wife Matildawas 4 3. Their children were Charles W, 19, William B, 14, Simpson,11, Mary J ane, 9, Benjamin F, 7, Christopher C, 5, and Nancy E, 2.
7/12/1860 Salt River Twp, Audrain Co, MO. The exact date of thewestw ard move is unknown but that is where the census taker foundthem. Tha t year Isaac was 56, a farmer from "Kintucky" and Matildawas 52. Chil dren still at home were Simpson, 21, Benjamin F, 15, CC,12, NE, 10, an d Caroline, 7. Also living with them was a daylaborer, NB Jenny, 29.
7/11/1870 Rose Twp, Shelby Co, IL. Apparently the family did notlike t he west and moved back nearer other family. At census timeIsaac was a 6 6 year old farmer with property valued at $4500/321.His wife's name t hen was Mary, 62, and they had 3 children livingwith them, Nancy, 19, C ary, 15, and Edward, 14, all born in KY. Nextdoor was B C Powell, 25. ( Was that son Benjamin or the one thatmarried Ellen Middlesworth?)
Daughter Caroline told the 1930 census taker that borh her parentswere b orn in PA.
His funeral notice in the newspaper stated "The funeral of IsaacPowell i s to take place from the residence of B.F. Powell today(Tuesday) at 2: 30 P.M. The friends and family are respectfullyinvited to attend."
