She attended the 1913 Powell family reunion at Sullivan, Moultrie Co,I L, with her two daughters, Elena and Eddith.
Following John's death she received a widow's pension based on hisserv ice in the Civil War. She was a member of the Christian Unionchurch a nd later of the Powell Chapel ME church.
At census time on 4/3/1920 she was a 74 year old widow, living inPrinc eton, Mercer Co, MO, with grandson, Omar Mantio, 19, unemployed,and Be ll O Wootton, 24, servant.
Her death occurred at the home of daughter, Mrs Waldo (Edith) Coon,whe re she had lived for "some time past."
Her obituary stated:
"The eight step-children were all at home when she and Mr. Powellw ere married. These with the children born to them, made her themother o f a very large family, and she was a wonderful mother to themall.
She has lived a long and useful life, full of loving service. Hert asks are finished. She has gone to her reward."
The cause of death was arteriosclerosis-generalized with cerebralsofte ning, heart disease-chronic mitral and aortic insufficiency withchroni c myocarditis and low blood pressure along with senility.
Daughter Edith also gave the personal information for the deathcertifi cate such as birth date, parents names, etc.
Rev CE Nichols conducted the funeral services which were held at theCh ristian church in Princeton on a Sunday afternoon.
