Following Lincoln's death, Laura moved back in with her father inDecat ur, Macon Co, IL where the census taker found her on 4/28/1910as head o f the house and listed Laura M, 40, a widow with her ownincome, her fa ther Peter Cofer, 72 year old widower, Florence E, 14,and Buell L, 10, a s well as step-niece, Leta Cornwell, 18.
At the 1931 Powell reunion, she signed the roster as May PowellKnight.
Some sources had 9/1962 as her death date, however, the date as postedi s from the Powell family reunion notes.
