1910 Same place. That year Hugh M, 36, was a proprietor of a retailb ook store and printing office. He had been married 14 years to Ivy,33 . The family had increased to include Hugh P, 13, Harold W, 11,and Ho race D, 2.

Mr. Rigney is a live newspaper man, well educated and alert inall m atters pertaining to the welfare of the people.
As is generally understood there is only one Democrat to nominatea nd his nomination is equivalent to election; also that the onecandidat e, by a gentleman's agreement made several years ago, comesthis year f rom Moultrie county. There will therefore be no candidatefrom either P iatt or Champaign county, although all three countieshave a voice in s aying who the nominee shall be."

Hugh was editor of the homepaper,owned h is home which was valued at $7000 (a large amount forthe day) and owne d a radio as well. Lena was a private musicteacher. Rooming there was 3 0 year old public school teacher, FernDale.
7/19/1931 He and his wife played in a golf tournament at the SullivanC ountry Club.
As late as 1938 he was called "Congressman" by the local newspaperwhen h e recommended the new post master for Mahomet, IL.
