1/10/1920 E Nelson Twp, Moultrie Co, IL. Probably at the same placea s the last census, Nathan R was 51 year old and was a generalfarmer. W ife Susan was 47 and living with them were Hubert, 27, Reta,24, Denzil , 27, and twins Merl and Midlred, 15. They lived in arented house.
5/2/1930 E Nelson Twp, Moultrie Co, IL. The census recorded NathanR, 6 1, married for the first time at age 26, a grain farmer, withwife Susa n A, 57, who married first at 22. Still at home were all 5chidlren: H ubert W, 35, Rocad patrolman on the railroad, Reta F, 33,Denzil R, 28, a nd twins Merell S and Pauline M, 25. The younger boysworked as farm l aborers on Nathan's grain farm. They rented theirhome but did have a r adio.
Nathan's obituary described him as a "prominent Jonathan Creekfarmer." H e was a member of the Jonathan Creek Christian Church.
Nathan had been ill for several months but had been in the hospital
only one day.
All the children, except Merle, still lived at home at the time of his
death.
His funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the First
Christian Church of Sullivan with Rev W.B. Hopper, assisted by Rev Lee
Davis, conducting the service. Pallbearers were: Duane, Kenneth, and
Carlton Purvis; Orville Powell; Wayne Miller; and Harold Newboulds.
