Notes for Sylvia Marie HOSPODKA


Sylvia collects bells, everything from cow bells to elaborate bells
from other countries, and although she has never traveled to the
countries of origin of most of them, she continues to add to the
collection through the generosity of friends and relatives.

Sylvia Powell
Services for Mrs. Ralph (Sylvia Marie Hospodka) Powell, 90, ofSullivan were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Reed Funeral Home inSullivan with Pastor Leonard Moore officiating. Burial was inGreenhill Cemetery in Sullivan.
She died at 3:40 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002 in St. Mary’s Hospital inDecatur.
Sylvia was born May 2, 1912 in Chicago, the daughter of John and RosieVasharta Hospodka. She was a Western Electric secretary in Chicago formore than 20 years and was a member of the Jonathan Creek ChristianChurch and Moultrie County Home Extension. She was a charter member ofthe Moultrie County Historical and Genealogical Society and theAmerican Bell Assn. International, Inc. She married Ralph Powell Oct.7, 1950 in Oak Park, and he preceded her in death Sept. 27, 1994.
Surviving are her nephew, Richard Peska of Bridgeview, and nieces,Mrs. Wilbert (Blanche) Pesek of Orange, Cal. and Mrs. Gil (Marian)Crawford of Sullivan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother and a sister.
