Following retirement he returned to hisroo ts, joined Jonathan Creek Christian Church which is located justacross t he road from his house, and was active in several localorganizations, i ncluding the Moultrie Co, IL, Geneological Society,Kiwanis Club, Farm B ureau, Illinois Rifle Assn, American Legion, andTelephone Pioneers of A merica.
Ralph had been in a nursing home for quite some time before he died.
It was his second confinement there after suffering a stroke several
years earlier which left him in a dazed, confused, and sometimes
almost comitose, state. However, while in the nursing home, he was
accidentally bumped on the head, which instead of complicating the
illness, brought about a miraculous recovery. He returned home in
perfect health for his age.
Ralph's funeral was held on Thursday at 10:30 AM at the Reed FuneralHo me of Sullivan, IL. Pallbearers were: nephews, Rick, Dale, andGreg C rawford; neighbors, Paul and John Shuman; and Dave Walker.
