3/1/1928 The Decatur Herald carried an article on an effort to get a" hard" road into Arthur and L D Seass, living near Cadwell, "spokefor t he 'Old Springfield Road' route, and John W. Craig seconded him,pointi ng out that it is the oldest road in Illinois."
He and his family attended the 1931 Powell family reunion.
