Randall fought in the Rev War, according to descendants.
LDS records say he was born in 1745 while other family trees have1750.
His will, dated 12/22/1784, was proved 8/4/1785 and probated12/22/1785 . It said:
"In the name of God Amen, I, Randolph Whitley, of Isle of WightCounty, V irginia, being sick and weak in body but of sound sense andmemory than ks be to God for the same Do make this my last Will &Testament in mann er and form as follows viz:
Item, I give and bequeath unto my son John Sanders Whitley, negro girlP hoebe in lieu of my fellow named Roger that my brother Elisha Whitlyga ve to him, said John Sanders, which said negro girl Phoebe I giveto hi m my said son John Sanders Whtiley and his heirs forever. Andat the t ime of my wife's death I give to my said son John SandersWhitly 5 head o f cattle to be taken out of my stock.
Item, I lend to my wife Tabitha Whitly the use of all the rest of myes tate after all my just debts are paid during her life or widowhoodand a fter her death or marriage which shall first happen, My will isthat al l my estate that shall then be except bed etc, be equallydivided betwe en my sons Randolph Reynolds Whitly, Elisha Whitley, andmy daughter Po lly Whitly, and also the child that my wife is big withif it is born a live...to these my said...children and their heirsforever.
My will further is that if either of my children shall die under ageor u nmarried that such child's part of my estate be equally dividedamong t he survivors of them and their heirs forever.
I give to my daughter Betsy Davis Whitley a feather bed and furniturew hich she shall receive at the time of my wife's marrying or at herdeat h.
I appoint my wife, Tabitha Whitly and my friend William Eley, myExecut ors.
Wherewith I have set my Hand and Seal this Twenty-Second Day ofDecembe r, In the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred &Eighty-four and i n the ninth Year of the Commonwealth of Virginia."
He signed by signature and seal.
Witnesses were Ishmael Whitley and Rachel Norsworth, both marked witha n X
