Family researchers place John in the family of William Daily, son ofJames Ferrell O'Neill Daily but dates don't match, those children havebeen well documented and this John is not one of them.
John's will indicated he had 3 different families by 3 differentwifes. Children are posted as listed in the will but dates andduplicate names cause problems that need to be sorted out. Also, ifBette remarried after John's death, how could wife Polly survive himas the will says? Could the will actually belong to another John?
A descendant said John was a shoemaker with 8 children by Elizabethbut that list doesn't agree with the ones here.

1820 Battalion 2 & 4 or Lexington side, Rowan Co, NC. John Daileywas 26-45 years old at census time with a household containing 2males age 10-15, 2 females under 10, and 1 also 26-45. Down the roadlived Uncles Alexander Smith and John Briggs. An Alson Dailey alsolived in the same area.
1839 Scott Co, IN. John was assessed for 29 1/2 acres and was listedas over 50 yrs old.
1839 tax records said he was over 50 and tax records support that.Howe ver some descendants have his birth year as late as 1817. SonJames to ld the 1880 census taker his parents were born in IN and VArespectivel y while son Josiah said they were both born in IN.
OUR BOWLBY KIN says "he is said to have died of pneumonia before thebirth of his son Josiah who was born 9 June 1837 in Washington County,Indiana."
However, his will was dated 6/20/1839, witnessed by Joseph Bowen &Ruth Daly, and was probated 6/5/1840 in Scott Co, IN.
Heirs included only the 3rd wife and her children so perhaps the otherchildren had already received their inheritance. The will specifiedthe children of each wife but some might have been step-children.
