Rosalie Branson, age 82, of Mattoon, IL passed away at 1:13 p.m. onWednesday, March 25, 2015 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Funeral services honoring her life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday,March 30, 2015 at First Baptist Church with Reverend Dennis Strawnofficiating. Burial will follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitationfor family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. onSunday, March 29, 2015 at Schilling Funeral Home.
Rosalie was born on February 20, 1933 in Mattoon, IL the daughter ofGeorge and Gretta (Daily) Arthur. She married Cleaves Branson onJanuary 21, 1951. He preceded her in death on October 9, 2014.
Survivors include her loving children, Darlene (Steve) McGary, Mark(Nancy) Branson, Debby (and the late Cecil) Ellis and Gary (Janet Sue)Branson all of Mattoon, IL; grandchildren, Angie Pearson, ChristiPoorman, Shannon McGary, Sharma Trail, Casey Branson, Jake Branson,Edward Carpenter, Amy McGary, Jary Branson and Garrette Branson;eleven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren;sister, Madonna Thomas; sisters-in-law, Norma Lundy and Maxine Arthur.Rosalie was preceded in death by sister, Dorothy VanGundy; brothers,Warren Arthur and Bob Arthur; nephew, Jim Taylor.
Rosalie worked at Dar-Su’s as a bookkeeper. She devoted countlesshours at Catholic Charities and was instrumental in developing thefree medication program there. Rosalie had a love for visiting andsharing everyone’s success and challenges. She enjoyed Facebook andplaying games on the computer. She always had a word of advice evenwhen she was sick. Rosalie worried about anyone that was ill andfollowed their journey in healing and passing. For family gatherings,Rosalie’s macaroni and cheese was always requested. Rosalie was thecenter core of her family.
