Elizabeth was eulogized by her preacher and son-in-law, some 30 years
after her death:
"She shared cheerfully the toils of a wild and dangerous homeunti l the year 1806, when the hand of death removed her husband.
This was a stunning blow to the fond anticipations that hadgilded h er path. She was now left with a family of eleven childrento meet the g loom of a widow's lot. Placing her hopes in Him thatdeclares 'I will r elieve the fatherless and widow,' she moved on inthe discharge of her d uty, raised her children, folded the cares of akind and good mother an d went to her eternal rest April 24th, 1840.
